I’m really proud to be the first filmmaker ever commissioned by FACT Liverpool to create a film summarising one of their projects.
The theme of the work was unrecognised labour, and I wanted to reflect this in the visuals of the film. Shots often feature close-up, intimate views of labour: however it is often faceless and unseen, reflecting the core message of the Womxn is Work campaign. However, the colouring contrasts this, with a bright and optimistic view towards the future.
The headline film was accompanied with a social media square video campaign, featuring unused interview footage from the main film, to encourage people to further discuss and examine the concept of unrecognised labour.
