So, how much is Cats Tea Party actually worth?

Kawaii Data no Monogatari

How much is Cats Tea Party worth? Why is it so expensive? This question has plagued people in kawaii fashion circles for many years. By which I mean, since approximately 2014. So three years.

It’s bothered me for a while too, so I decided to finally, definitively find out using the only tools I had available to me; crowdsourced data, some spreadsheets and a recently acquired knack for data visualisation.

The result is this.

Outfit post: Happy International Lolita Day!

For those unfamiliar with lolita fashion, there are actually two ILD. One is the first Saturday in June, the other is first weekend in December.

It was super hot today so I dressed very casually. Outfit photo, black lolita dress and red cardigan

I went to see an exhibition of edo prints at lady lever gallery! I went to the hokusai museum during my Japan holiday and really enjoyed it, so it was nice to see woodblock prints locally too.  Continue reading

Outfit Post: Secret of Kells in Southport

outfit post - wearing lolita fashion, knight night secret of kells JSK

I actually own this dress, Secret of Kells by Knight Night on Taobao, in two different colours. One day I’ll probably en devour to take photos of myself in both outfits so I can put them next to each other and make out like I’m my own twin.

JSK – Secret of Kells

Blouse, Cardigan – Amavel

Socks – Metamorphose Temps de Fille

Shoes – Hush Puppies

Beret – Kangol (vintage)

Necklace – Jane Marple

Bag – Milk

The pictures were taken in Southport shopping arcade. I think this staircase is really beautiful, and I like the way the rich colours of the chartreuse wall tiles look with the deep wine and navy in my look.

Secret of Kells gives me such a ‘scholarly’ feeling, so I wanted to do quite an academic look to go with the gown. I really like the balance and depth of colours in the overall look – and it’s so weird to not be wearing any black at all!

My first Enchantilic Enchantilly dress – Queen Cat!

I ordered my first dress from Enchantilic Enchantilly and it arrived today! What surprised me the most was the sheer level of attention to detail in the packaging, as well as the garment itself. I should say, this is not a product review and more an appreciation a really beautifully packaged garment.

The box came with a beautiful A3 poster, pictured top right, on top of the order. There was also a small, sealed brown envelope containing TEN postcards! The dress was packed inside this branded draw string bag and came with a non-slip hanger. The small A4 poster representing the series came in plastic, as did the dress, and both were sealed with branded stickers.

The Gothic and Lolita Bible is over – could the west save it?

As someone who owns at least 15 copies of The Gothic and Lolita Bible (GLB) I’m obviously devastated to hear the announcement today that the magazine will be suspended as of May 24th.

A Christmas Trip to Tokyo Disney Sea

I know it’s a little bit late to be posting about Christmas, approximately two months late, but I have Tokyo Disney Sea photos to share!

One of the things we really wanted to do during our holiday was go to Tokyo Disney Sea while the Christmas decorations were up. We went on the 21st and it was beautiful! It was also Disney Sea’s 15 anniversary, which was crystal themed, so there was beautiful crystals everywhere.

J-Fashion at DokiDoki in Manchester

A couple of weeks ago myself and a couple of the girls from my J-fashion community represented J-fashion at DokiDoki festival in Manchester. We were really keen to get involved with the fashion side of the convention, especially since it’s in the local area.

Our table at DokiDoki

It was actually my first time properly being behind a stand at a convention and I really enjoyed it! I drew a lot of pictures, had really nice conversations and raised a good bit of money for charity.

Our table was absolutely piled up with wigs, accessories, hairpieces, necklaces and clip on things by the tonne in lots of different styles because we wanted to give people lots of different styles to try.

I also brought a couple of my GLB magazines with me, including the one that has my photographs inside! I still get to be proud of that, you know?

Outfit Post: An Ode to Teenage Me

There is something very aggressively teenage about provocative slogan t-shirts. Examples of why I’ll never be taken seriously as an adult from my own collection include;

  • A tight, black t-shirt which states “PARENTAL GUIDANCE. EXPLICIT CONTENT”
  • A jumper with “BITCH 01” emblazoned across the front
  • Another jumper which I cover up when there’s children around that just says “SUCK A FUCK” outright.

I can’t explain what compels me to purchase such things, but I’ve gone and done it again.

Where in the World is Nadina O?

Now that I’ve transferred all my posts over I can start giving you all fresh content again! At some point, I’m going to have to do the boring job of fixing all the pictures, but it’s been too long since we had an update so let’s have one.

The past couple of months have been exceptionally busy; I’ve been traveling a lot with work, everyone I know has had loads of drama, I’ve had 10,000 things to do in general so not much posting has been happening. I’m really sorry about that. This blog is usually something I do to chill out but I haven’t had the energy at all lately. Anyway.

Outfit Post: Enjoying Tropical England…

I haven’t really felt like blogging much in post-brexit vote England, the rainy weather pretty much reflects my mood on the whole thing – even though my outfit is the exact opposite. I know I don’t look what people consider to be “foreign” whatever that is, but my family are immigrants who came here in 91/92 to flee a war in our home country. For a long time I have been very proud to be a citizen of this country but at the moment I am bit anxious, a bit unsure as to whether I feel safe and who in the streets would tell me to leave if they knew where I was born. I’m very lucky to have the privilege that I do in being white and having an English accent, so I try and use these traits to speak for people who cannot speak for themselves in this country and this language and who have been and will be scapegoated and picked on in this country in the future. I feel lucky to live in Liverpool which is such an accepting and friendly place. I am trying to be positive and hopeful and remain outspoken on issues which affect other people who come to this country as refugees and immigrants such as myself but for now please just have patience and let me heal  and please enjoy these photos of a lovely day at the Tate Liverpool.
