We had a bit of a strange meet this time around, in that it was half meet – half magazine photo shoot. The amazingly talented Annie Collinge came all the way up from London to hang out with us and take photos of our outfits for Pylot magazine. Pylot is an analogue photography magazine so she took our photos using all film cameras! It was really interesting to be a part of that process, and I’m really excited to see the final images. The one above was just one that I got Lyle to take, because I wanted a shot of my outfit next to a sign that said “Unique Woman” if I’m entirely honest.
This outfit is much sweeter than I would usually wear, but I felt really happy with it because it wasn’t too cutesy for me. I would really like to make another outfit around this dress, but based on a Victorian carousel theme. I’m thinking a higher collar and a really fancy riding hat so look forward to that! I had a little attempt at starting that look by making the stripey bow you can see attached to my hat. It was a fun project.
I didn’t take many photos this time around, because the meet was quite active. As well as taking photos I had planned a lot of activities to fill time for people that weren’t currently being photographed. We had lunch at Koffee Pot in Manchester; I had eggs royale on gluten free bread and it was delicious! They’re a great place and cater for a variety of dietary requirements.
We did a lot of really cute valentines activities too! I got everyone to write their names in a Valentines card then shuffled them and passed them out so everyone got a secret valentine from another member of the community. We also did a fun lolita quiz with a little prize and played a silly game where everyone wrote down random words and we generated print names! My favourite was anxious lemon teatime.
Also Manchester was really cold! That’s all!
