I really can’t believe I’ve been the flag-bearer for Japanese Fashion (J-Fashion) in the North West of England for two years now. To be honest, I also could never have predicted how much happiness and satisfaction this role would give me.
There is something very aggressively teenage about provocative slogan t-shirts. Examples of why I’ll never be taken seriously as an adult from my own collection include;
- A tight, black t-shirt which states “PARENTAL GUIDANCE. EXPLICIT CONTENT”
- A jumper with “BITCH 01” emblazoned across the front
- Another jumper which I cover up when there’s children around that just says “SUCK A FUCK” outright.
I can’t explain what compels me to purchase such things, but I’ve gone and done it again.
I haven’t really felt like blogging much in post-brexit vote England, the rainy weather pretty much reflects my mood on the whole thing – even though my outfit is the exact opposite. I know I don’t look what people consider to be “foreign” whatever that is, but my family are immigrants who came here in 91/92 to flee a war in our home country. For a long time I have been very proud to be a citizen of this country but at the moment I am bit anxious, a bit unsure as to whether I feel safe and who in the streets would tell me to leave if they knew where I was born. I’m very lucky to have the privilege that I do in being white and having an English accent, so I try and use these traits to speak for people who cannot speak for themselves in this country and this language and who have been and will be scapegoated and picked on in this country in the future. I feel lucky to live in Liverpool which is such an accepting and friendly place. I am trying to be positive and hopeful and remain outspoken on issues which affect other people who come to this country as refugees and immigrants such as myself but for now please just have patience and let me heal and please enjoy these photos of a lovely day at the Tate Liverpool.
Georgia and I decided to go to Manchester Gallery and see the Fashion and Freedom exhibition, which features fashion items inspired from students and industry professionals on the theme of world war 1.
For ILD this summer we went out for Korean food and then for Karaoke! I wore a brand new dress I just got from LIEF.
I happened to have recently acquired a gold Milk heart shaped bag, yay me! My friend has had the Loris replica version for a good while and we thought we’d put them side by side and show you the difference, so you don’t get caught out by someone trying to pass off a replica for the original brand price.
I know light night was 2 weeks ago but I forgot to write about what an amazing night I had. Which is all the more reason to write about it, but when you’re having a really good time its really easy to forget to make a post about it.
I actually wore lolita for the night! It was a fun night out after work with my boyfriend and I wanted to look nice. I tried on a few different outfits in the morning and I just didn’t want to wear any of them. I had this cute, summery gingham outfit on with Vivienne Westwood 3 strap heels and my Dr Marten’s Heart Shaped bag. (Also my work is super cool with my fashion sense, but obviously I don’t wear my more outlandish outfits to client meetings)
My obsession with this Sonia Rykiel jumper will never end. Sorry about the phone camera selfie collage but I was spending the day with my mother and having a lovely time and I took these in about 5 minutes while she went to the bathroom!! Desperate, but this overall look was too good to miss.
Loving the amount of pink in my life at the moment to be honest.
A year ago yesterday I quit my job and started this blog. I don’t think I ever intended it to make me any money, but I wanted something to do while I looked for a new job and a platform to put my work on in order to encourage me to keep going. Continue reading
